Strap end or buckle frame

MISC02

Object
: Strap end/buckle frame?
Culture: Medieval. 14th-15th century
Country of Origin: Britain. UK
Material: Bronze
Size: 32mm length
Weight: 3.46 grams

Notes: Sold as buckle, but I think this may be the bottom part of a open work strap end which is broken. There is no evidence of an apeture or wear and tear for a pin which would be evident with a buckle. There are also no piercings for rivets to attach to a strap end, so the function is unclear. Leaf motif terminus.
