Notes: The strapend
is of folded metal construction. It is a folded and die struck
sheet. The roping is at the bottom, and there are two rivet holes
at the top. Both rivets are missing. The letters are stamped and
and surrounded with scallops top and bottom. There is a row of
scallops on the top edge. Most likely this is for use with a fabric
belt which was commonly seen in the 15th century.
Item was found near Southwark
Bridge on the Thames River, England on the north side of the river
in the 1980s.

are noted. It is unclear whether this is a top plate or designed
to be a stand-alone piece.

corner to corner.

The extremely small size of the item also indicated that it may
be a fragment and not complete.
In spite of the tiny nature of the strap end, a series of three
dots are present around the edge of the plate. This would have
been a delicate item when new.
