Rosalie Gilbert is passionate about living history, experimental archaeology and women in the Middle Ages, particularly England where her family origins are, and is a lifetime member of the Friends of the Abbey Museum of Art & Archaeology and a long-standing member of the Queensland Living History Federation.

Rosalie has been a guest speaker on Medieval Feminine Hygiene and The Very Secret Sex Lives of Medieval Women at The Abbey Museum of Art and Archaeology, the Queensland Museum's After Dark Program for the British Museum's Medieval Power: Symbols & Splendour Exhibition, the University of The Third Age's Winterschool Program, the University Pavilion at the Abbey Medieval Festival, a lecture series throughout Brisbane City Council libraries, and various women's social groups.

She has a strong focus on education and especially on revealing the little-known facts and loopholes behind the lives of medieval women. She is committed to busting the myths that medieval women were illiterate, dirty, smelly, had no idea about hygiene, were always sexually repressed and were permanently under the yoke of some man or other. This is achieved with her living history displays, engaging and accessible talks and presentations, through the media and in person at public events.

Rosalie is the voice behind Rosalie's Medieval Woman, an online presence on several social media platforms focussing on 14th century women's lives; including historical tailoring tutorials and experimental archaeology trials and is the owner and curator of The Gilbert Collection, a medieval antiquities study collection which is available online with free access.

Her first non-fiction book, The Very Secret Sex Lives of Medieval Women is an international best seller for Mango Publishing in 2020 and has been translated into Russian, Polish, Japanese and is available through the Braille Library of Australia.

Rosalie lives in Brisbane, Australia with her rescue cat, Gummibear.
