About Rosalie's Medieval Woman

Rosalie Gilbert is a living history enthusiast, 14th century re-enactor and medieval author who is passionate about women in the Middle Ages, particularly England where her family origins are.

She has given talks on Medieval Woman & Sex, Medieval Feminine Hygiene, Recent Finds in Underwear, A Noblewoman's bathroom explain'd, Medieval Bathing & Hygiene and Medieval Women & Literacy both online and in person for the Abbey Museum of Art & Archaeology, U3A Brisbane, various women's groups and as a guest speaker at the British Museum's Medieval Power exhibit at the Queensland Museum.

The Rosalie's Medieval Woman Website is designed as a springboard for those who wish to learn a little more about the medieval woman: what she wears and why, how to be beautiful according to medieval standards, her personal hygiene and a little about a medieval woman's life - clothing and dress accessories, celebrations and the customs associated with key events in her life- births, deaths, marriages, employment, education, pets and how she spent her days at home and on holidays.

There's sewing galleries, sewing tutorials, a shopping page, a bibliography and a bunch of other stuff there too!

The Rosalie's Medieval Woman Blog on Dreamwidth is where all the behind-the-scenes craft activity (making or sewing or painting things for use in my medieval world) are posted, but there are some book things here too! If you like free Medieval Sewing Tutorials? There's plenty. How to make your own pattern, easy medieval clothes to make with step-by-step guides and instructions, plus how to do those finishing touches, like buttonholes and making buttons!.

You can also connect with her on social media. Look for Rosalie's Medieval Woman on Facebook and Instagram.
