The Story of Little Black Sambo

Small hardcover story of Little Black Sambo and his family. This book made the banned list and was withdrawn from schools in Australia as inappropriate late 1970s for using the word "black" to describe ethnically Indian characters in the story.

Hardcover. With 3 brief sentences to each page illustrating the life of Jesus and key points in the bible. A bit disconcerting some of the things that are chosen to highlight- "Jesus worked hard. He worked in his father's carpenter shop. He earned money for his mother." Lots of being happy and loving Jesus. Colour prints of famous watercolours.

With stories with a Message. Photographs of interesting historical things like the Pyramids. Quite a few Scottish photos included as well as Royal information like "How do we know if the Queen is home?". With a delightful photograph of their highnesses Princess Anne and Prince Charles on the cover.

Hardcover. Looks by the style to have been published between 1930-1960. Full colour drawing frontispiece and an interesting forward by the author citing historical references to Robin Hood and places mentioned in the stories. Includes tales of Maid Marion's friendship with Robin, how each of the main men met and more stories than is usual.
Little Black Sambo

Large paperback with ring binding. Includes pull out Sambo paper doll at the back, still attached. This book was banned. First published in 1899. The story of Sambo who is menaced by a tiger who takes all his clothes. Sambo ends victoriously and eats the tiger as pancakes.

Hardcover with gold embossed spine and characters on front cover. Originally printed in 1928. Coloured paper inside front cover with picture of characters. Chapters include the building of Eor's house at Pooh Corner, meeting Tigger for the fist time, the one where Piglet meets the Heffalump and Poohsticks is invented.
